Greater Fort Lauderdale, encompassing all of Broward County hosted 14 million visitors in 2017, including 2.8 million international visitors. The district has 561 hotels and motels comprising nearly 35,000 rooms. Forty-nine cruise ships sailed from Port Everglades in 2017. Greater Fort Lauderdale has over 4,000 restaurants, 63 golf courses, 12 shopping malls, 16 museums, 132 nightclubs, 278 parkland campsites, and 100 marinas housing 45,000 resident yachts. Fort Lauderdale is the 10th largest city in Florida and we are continually adding new residents to our city each day. With this constant growth, we also have an ever-growing need for more police officers to protect our citizens and visitors, and to serve our community.

Fort Lauderdale Police officers are provided with 40 hours of high-quality training every year. Our state-of-the-art Training Facility provides us with the ability to offer classroom instruction; defensive tactics; gun ranges; and live-action training.
