The Violent Crimes Division investigates a variety of major incidents including homicide, felony non-familial assaults/batteries, robbery, gun violence, sexual battery/assault, child abuse, felony domestic violence, missing persons, internet crimes against children, human trafficking, as well as monitoring sexual offenders/predators/career criminals.
The Violent Crimes Division is comprised of the following units: Violent Crimes Unit, Homicide, Special Victims Unit, Gun Intelligence Unit, Endangered Persons Unit, Fugitive Unit, Forensics Unit (includes Crime Scene Investigations, Digital Forensics Unit, Fingerprint Unit), as well as the Crime Analysis Unit (includes the Real Time Crime Center). Each unit has their own responsibility of investigation. These areas are interconnected and allow for a comprehensive investigative division that provides investigative follow up on prolific offenders committing these crimes.
